Western Electronics Expands Services
Westminster, Colorado-based Western Electronics, a contract electronics manufacturer, said Tuesday that the firm has added prototype and NPI service capabilities to the firm. According to the company, the new services are a complement to its current electronics manufacturing and solutions offerings. OEMs use contract manufacturers to outsource manufacturing of electronics components; prototype and NPI (New Product Introduction) services are specifically used by OEMs to manage transitioning their products out of design and into production. Contract manufacturers typically provide feedback and help with component selection, feedback on the suitability of circuit board layouts to manufacturing, and similar services in their NPI offerings. Western Electronics said its NPI services will include design for manufacturability analysis and feedback on assembly and bill of materials. The firm has facilities in Idaho and Colorado.
