Ancestry.com Debuts Jewish History Collection
Popular genealogy Web site Ancestry.com claimed Wednesday that it now boasts the world's largest online collection of Jewish family history records. The Provo, Utah-based company said it assembled the collection of historical documents through a partnership with a pair of Jewish heritage organizations—JewishGen and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. JewishGen, Ancestry.com noted, is an affiliate of the Museum of Jewish Heritage, a Holocaust memorial located in New York City. The AJJDC, Ancestry.com said, provides relief to Jews in more than 70 countries as an overseas humanitarian aid organization. Ancestry.com added that, as a result of the collaboration, it now possesses more than 26 million Jewish family history records. Ancestry.com is owned and operated by The Generations Network Inc.
