Go Daddy Creates Canadian Unit, to Sponsor Road Race
The Go Daddy Group Inc., operators of domain name registrar GoDaddy.com, revealed Thursday that it will sponsor a NASCAR road race on Canadian television as part of its expansion into the Land of the Maple Leaf. The Scottsdale, Ariz.-based business said GoDaddy.com will serve as the official broadcast sponsor of the NASCAR Napa Auto Parts 200, which will occur on Aug. 2 in Montreal and will be televised on TSN, a 24-hour, all-sports network. As an additional way of garnering attention for its new subsidiary, Go Daddy Domains Canada, the group said GoDaddy.com will also sponsor Canadian driver Ron Fellows, who will be racing the No.5 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet. Based in Ontario, Go Daddy Domains Canada is a certified registrar for .CA, the top-level domain reserved for Canadian Web sites. The parent company said it currently serves some 5.5 million Canadian customers and hopes to have its new subsidiary offering .CA domain names by race time.
