Michigan-Based Contract Manufacturer to Close N.M. Plant
Sparton Corp., a Michigan-based electronics design and manufacturing services firm, reported Tuesday that it will suspend manufacturing operations at its Albuquerque, N.M., plant later this year. Sparton said it plans to close the facility, which produces circuit card assemblies and related manufacturing services to industrial customers, on or about Sept. 30. Sparton cited offshore competition, a volatile market and a resulting decrease in sales as reasons for the plant's pending closure. Further details, such as the number of disaffected employees, were not disclosed. Sparton Corp. is headquartered in Jackson, Mich.
