GE Energy Takes Majority Stake In Primestar Solar
GE Energy, the energy arm of GE, said yesterday that it has acquired a majority stake in Golden, Colorado-based PrimeStar Solar, a developer of thin-film photovoltaic modules. GE Energy did not disclose financial terms of the deal. PrimeStar Solar was founded in June of 2006 to develop and commercialize thin-film photovoltaic modules; the firm received an investment from GE in September of last year. GE Energy said the increased stake in the firm underscores the firm's commitment to solar energy.
