First Data Buys Digital Payment Software Firm
First Data Corp., a provider of electronic commerce and payment services, announced Monday that it has purchased Deecal International, an Ireland-based publisher of digital payment-processing software. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. With the acquisition, First Data said it is better positioned to capitalize on an expanding commercial payments market. Founded in 1991, Deecal is a privately owned company headquartered in Dublin. It boasts a client base of more than 200 banks, corporations and government agencies throughout Europe and the United States. First Data Corp. is based in Greenwood Village, Colo.
