Limelight to Support Microsoft's Silverlight
Limelight Networks' content delivery platform will support a next-generation Microsoft plug-in, Limelight revealed Sunday. The Limelight Content Delivery Network will include integration of Microsoft Silverlight, a recently announced, platform-independent accessory that will enable Web browsers to stream rich media content. As a result, the company said, content providers subscribing to Limelight's network will be able to deliver high-quality video and other bandwidth-intensive content without inconveniencing their users with long load times or subsequent software installations. Based in Tempe, Ariz., Limelight is the content delivery network for more than 700 of the world's largest Internet media outlets, including FOXNews.com, MSNBC.com and MySpace.com.
