McDATA Launches i10K, Upgrades Management Software
Broomfield, Colorado-based storage area networking hardware provider McDATA today launched two products, its new i10K Xtreme director for SAN switching, and an upgraded storage management software solution, Enterprise Fabric Connectivity Manager (EFCM) 9.0. McDATA's new i10K Xtreme adds 4 Gb/s support to the firm's SAN directors, and logical partitions for isolating storage area network segments. The new logical partition capability competes with Cisco's Virtual SAN (VSAN) technology in its MDS 9000 switches. Among other features, the new i10K adds trunking across multiple interswitch links, and better authentication and security features. The firm's upgraded EFCM software now provides support for all of the i10K's new features, security features, and additional advanced diagnostics.
