Microchip Files Patent Suit
Chandler, Arizona-based Microchip Technology, a provider of microcontrollers and analog semiconductors, said late yesterday that it has filed a patent infringement suit against a competitor. Microchip said that it has filed a patent infringement suit against Luminary Micro, an Austin, Texas-based developer of microcontrollers. Microchip contends that Luminary's series of 32-bit microcontrollers infringes against its technology, and is seeking an injunction against the sale or use of Luminary's products. The patents in question are U.S. Patent Nos. 5,847,450, 6,483,183 and 6,696,316.
