GoDaddy Expands Cloud Offerings, Targeting AWS

Scottsdale, Arizona-based GoDaddy is expanding its cloud offerings today, saying that it will offer up cloud-based, virtual servers to customers, plus a cloud application service. The company said it is targeting web developers, including individual developers, tech entrepreneurs, and IT professionals with the new service. The new service--which looks a lot like Amazon Web Services--lets users provision virtual instances in less than a minute, via an API and through apps, and are offered up on an hourly basis. GoDaddy said the new cloud application service is based on a partnership with open source server application provider Bitnami, and provides one-click installation of WordPress, Drupal, magento, OpenERP and Oddo, and OpenCart, among others.
