Salt Lake City-based flash storage provider Fusion-io has inked an agreement with network attached storage giant NetApp, to use Fusion-io's platform for storage tiering. According to the two, the two are working together to use server-side flash and caching with NetApp's Virtual Storage Tier. The collaboration revolves around integrating Fusion-io's flash-based storage as part of automated storage tiering, the process of moving data to the appropriate locations based on usage and lifecycle of that data.
