    ON Semiconductor Unveils R&D Centre in Ireland

    Phoenix-based embedded computer chip manufacturer ON Semiconductor revealed Monday that it has opened a research facility in Limerick, Ireland. ON said its new Research & Development Center will focus on digital power and thermal management applications for next-generation processors. Specifically, ON explained, the center will engineer controller- and driver-integrated circuits to be embedded in servers, gaming consoles, desktops and laptops. The center, ON added, will employ 49 designers and engineers once at full capacity; it currently fields a staff of 28.
