    DigitalGlobe Satellite In Operation

Longmont-based DigitalGlobe, a provider of commercial satellite imagery, said Thursday that its WorldView-1 satellite is fully operational and available to customers. The satellite, which launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in September, provides high resolution satellite images. According to the firm, almost all of the imagery collected by the satellite is made available to its customers online. DigitalGlobe said that its first customer, the National Geospacial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) has been receiving imagery since November 26th from the satellite. DigitalGlobe's satellite images are used for a wide range of uses, from consumer-facing satellite imaging applications, to oil and gas, telecommunications, GPS navigation, and other applications.
