DISH Opens Up APIs For DVR Platform
Englewood, Colorado-based DISH, the satellite television provider, is hoping to spur third party applications by opening up API access to the company's Hopper digital video recording (DVR) platform. According to DISH, it will provide third party developers acess to a new, application programming interface (API) for its Hopper DVR. The company said it hopes to spur innovation among smartphone and tablet app developers. DISH said the API will be available to "select" mobile app developers, saying that it will vet developers who want to work with the program to ensure customer privacy and other considerations are met.
