DigiCert Acquired By Thoma Bravo

Lehi, Utah-based DigiCert, the provider of SSL certificates, has been acquired by private equity firm Thoma Bravo, the two companies said this morning. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. DigiCert provides digital certificates, used in securing websites and software, and is a global SSL Certificate Authority (CA). The company is led by Nicholas Hales, and had previously been majority owned by another private equity company, TA Associates. Thoma Bravo said the investment is one of the largest technology investments ever made in a Utah-based business. TA Associates will remain a minority shareholder in DigiCert after the acquisition.
