COPAN Systems Plugs into Green Grid
Data storage specialist COPAN Systems has joined an international, energy-friendly initiative that hopes to lower power consumption at worldwide data centers, the company reported Wednesday. The project, known as The Green Grid, aims to define a series of best practices for improving network energy efficiency. COPAN said it will participate as a contributing member-level storage company. The Longmont, Colorado-based firm added that it has designed its line of Massive Array of Idle Disks persistent data storage products to consume less energy for the past four years. The company's storage products power down disks when they are not in use.
