Control4 Links With Home Energy Management Manufacturers

Salt Lake City-based Control4, the developer of home based control system hardware and related products, said this week that it has linked with a number of home energy management manufacturers. The firm said it has linked its EMS 100 Energy Management System with manufacturers Entek International LLC, EpiSensor, Jetlun, Eaton, and TED - The Energy Detective. According to Control4, the interoperability with those devices will help its electric utility customers to offer consumers more way to participate in demand response programs. Demand response programs are those programs run by some electric utilities to throttle use of such items as air conditioners and major industrial equipment, to reduce their need to boost peak power output from their power plants. Control4 said it is demonstrating interoperability with the energy monitoring and sensor firms at a conference this week.
