Cheyenne Selected For Data Center
Cheyenne, Wyoming has been selected by EchoStar Broadcasting Corp. for a new, 77,000 square foot data center, EchoStar said today. According to EchoStar Broadcasting, a subsidiary of EcoStar, the new data center will be located next to its existing satellite uplink and broadcast facility in Cheyenne Business Park. EchoStar said it evaluated more than 50 sites around the country for the new facility, but ultimately selected the Cheyenne location because of strong ties to the community, a business friendly tax environment, reasonably priced power, and the availability of a professional work force. EchoStar said the new data center will initially employ around a dozen new IT professionals, who join over the 360 employees the firm employees at its existing 24/7 broadcast center in Cheyenne. The operation supports DISH NEtwork and a number of commercial and government customers.
