CentralPointe Launches Linux Software Firm

Salt Lake City-based CentralPointe said today that it has launched a new firm focused on developing IT platforms for small and distributed environments. The firm, headed by former DirectPointe CEO Michael Proper, said it will integrate cloud enabled services and open source software into its own platform, which is based on the open source CentOS Linux distribution. CentOS is the open source version of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system. Among pre-integrated packages that CentralPointe offers are a web server, print server, MYSQL database, firewall, and other IT applications.
