| The Transformative Nature of Burning Man | | Date: July 07, 2008 | | Location:Westminster | | "The Transformative Nature of Burning Man" Night with a Futurist. Sometime great things happen as a result of some crazy accident. Burning Man began in 1986 when Larry Harvey - ex-bike messenger, ex-cab driver, and landscaper of abnormal gardens - burned a home-made human effigy on a San Francisco beach with 10 people looking on. Twenty years later, Burning Man is a festival with 50,000 participants from all over the world, with an annual budget of over $10 million. So what happens out there in the desert anyway? Where is it leading the participants (known as "Burners"), and is it having a ripple effect outside the confines of the festival? These questions and others will be discussed at the July 7 Futurist event. Join us as we take a fascinating look at the transformative nature of this unusual festival. Please mark your calendars to be part of this unique discission. See http://nightwithafuturist.com | | More information: http://nightwithafuturist.com | Download to Calendar |
