BiOptix Diagnostics Gains $3M

Analytical instrumentation firm BiOptix Diagnostics Inc. announced recently that it has closed an initial round of institutional funding worth some $3 million. The Boulder, Colo.-based company credited Boulder Ventures Ltd. with leading the effort, which also included unnamed, private investors. BiOptix also reported that Richard Whitcomb has been promoted to president and chief executive officer. He previously had been the company's president and chief operating officer. Dr. Misha Plam, BiOptix's founder and the former founder and CEO of Sievers Instruments, will continue to advise the company as an advisor, BiOptix said. More information »
