Aircell Behind Alaska Airlines Wi-Fi Expansion
Broomfield, Colorado-based Aircell, the provider of in-flight Wi-Fi services, is now providing coverage of nearly every aircraft in Alaska Airlines fleet. According to Alaska Airlines today, it now has 92 percent Wi-Fi coverage on its fleet via Gogo Inflight Internet, the consumer Wi-Fi service run by Aircell. Alaska said only seven of its 117 Boeing 737s do not offer Wi-Fi service, mostly freighter and combination freighter/passenger aircraft, and a three older 737-400s. Aircell has had Alaska Airlines as a customer since February of last year.
