    Overstock.com Reinstates Hawaii Affiliates
    In the continuing saga over taxation of Internet businesses, Overstock.com said Thursday afternoon that it will reinstate its Hawaii affiliate advertisers, after it received word that Hawaii Governor Lingle decided to veto legislation that would force the firm--and other Internet retailers--to collect taxes on purchases in the state.     LifeLock Signs Employee Benefits Firm
    Tempe, Arizona-based LifeLock, the venture funded provider of identity theft protection services, disclosed Thursday that it has inked a agreement with employee benefit provider Motivano in a marketing deal. According to LifeLock, users of Motivano will be able to tap into LifeLock's services at a discounted rate. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Motivano provides benefits enrollment, payroll deduction, and other related services.

    Contexo Media Acquired By Maryland Firm
    Salt Lake City-based Contexo Media, a provider of medical coding and reimbursement books and software for the medical billing industry, has been acquired by a Maryland firm. According to Rockville, Md.-based Access Intelligence LLC, it has acquired Contexo Media, which will become a new division of the firm. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, and Access Intelligence did not say how employment at Contexo would be affected by the move. (More info...)

    NSA Targets Utah For Giant Data Center
    The National Security Agency is looking to build a major data center in Utah, according to a report today in the Salt Lake Tribune, with plans to build up to 1 million square feet of data center space in Camp Williams on a 200-acre site. According to the Tribune, the data center is being funded by $181M in a war spending bill recently signed by President Obama, and may bring as many as 1200 high tech jobs to the area. (More info...)

    41st Parameter Names CEO
    Scottsdale, Arizona-based 41st Parameter, a venture backed provider of fraud detection and prevention technology, said late Wednesday that it has named J. Peter Selda as its President, CEO, and a member of the firm's board of directors. Selda was most recently President and CEO of Identity Engines. Selda also served as President and CEO of WholeSecurity, which was acquired by Symantec in 2005, and has also been at Internet Dynamics. (More info...)

    Angel Group Selects Sun Valley For Meeting
    Angel investor group the Keiretsu Forum, will convene in two weeks in Sun Valley, Idaho, for its annual meeting. According to the group the event, which will run from July 14-16, will feature at least four presenting companies and keynote speaker Dr. Rob Wiltbank, Willamette University's associate professor of strategic management.     Overstock.com Adds Back California Affiliates
    In a quick reversal of the firm's announcement Wednesday that it would drop its California, North Carolina, Hawaii, and Rhode Island affiliates over efforts to tax Internet businesses, Salt Lake City-based Overstock.com said late Wednesday evening that it would reinstate California-based affiliate advertisers of the firm.     Overstock Follows Amazon, Cuts Affiliate Advertisers
    Salt Lake City-based Overstock.com is following the lead of Amazon.com, and is cutting affiliates in California, Hawaii, North Carolina, and Rhode Island, after Amazon cut its affiliates in a number of those states in protest of laws which hope to collect state sales tax on internet purchases, if those retailers had affiliates in those states.     StillSecure Names Sales VP
    Superior, Colorado-based StillSecure reported Wednesday that it has hired on Stephen Leahy as the firm's new Vice President of Worldwide Sales. The firm, which develops network security products, said that Leahy joins the firm from AccuRev. Leahy also served at Empirix, Pure Atria, Calico Commerce, and Frictionless Commerce.

    eFileCabinet Signs Reseller
    Provo, Utah-based eFileCabinet, a provider of software for electronic document management, said Wednesday that it has signed on a strategic reseller, CMIT Solutions. According to eFileCabinet, CMIT Solutions will provide customers to with access to its electronic document software. CMIT is based in Austin, Texas, and serves small and mid-sized businesses.

    Telemetric Acquired By Sensus
    Boise, Idaho-based Telemetric, a developer of communications equipment and software for power utility and other smart grid communications products, has been acquired by North Carolina's Sensus. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Sensus said that Telemetric will become part of its Conservation Solutions business unit, which services electric, water and gas utilities. Telemetric was venture backed by Highway 12 Ventures, Village Ventures, and others.

    Envysion Wins Fast Food Chain
    Louisville, Colorado-based remote video surveillance services provider Envysion revealed Tuesday that a regional fast-food chain based in Vail, Colo., has adopted Envysion's Insight hosted video management service. The financial impact of the customer win was not disclosed. Envysion identified its new client as Larkburger, which serves gourmet burgers to Vail Valley diners. (More info...)

    Carefx Signs Customer In Seattle
    Scottsdale, Arizona-based Carefx, a developer of clinical information systems software, disclosed this week that its products have been chosen by Seattle-based Virginia Mason Medical Center. Size of the win was not disclosed, however, Carefx said that the nonprofit provider of integrated health services will use its software to ensure interoperability between mulitple information systems.

    Webroot Updates Security Software
    Boulder, Colorado-based Webroot reported Tuesday that the firm has released new versions of the firm's software-as-a-service security products, Webroot Web Security SaaS and Webroot Email Security SaaS.     DigitalGlobe Sets Satellite Launch Date
    Longmont, Colorado-based DigitalGlobe is planning to launch the firm's newest satellite, WorldView-2, in October from a launch site in California, the firm said Tuesday afternoon. DigitalGlobe, which uses its satellites to obtain high resolution imagery used for geographical information system and other uses, said the satellite is scheduled to launch October 6th from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.     Solix Biofuels Raises $16.8M
    Fort Collins, Colorado-based Solix Biofuels reports this morning that the firm has raised a Series A funding round worth $16.8M. The funding came from Shanghai Alliance Investment Ltd., along with I2BF Venture Capital, Bohemian Investments, Southern Ute Alternative Energy LLC, Valero Energy Corp., and Infield Capital.     HiveLive Scores Two Big Wins

    BYU Lifts YouTube Ban
    Provo, Utah-based BYU lifted a ban on access to the popular YouTube video sharing site from its campus Friday, after having banned the site from access since 2006. The campus had banned access to the site due to fears of questionable content and bandwidth issues several years ago for students. The move follows the launch of an official YouTube channel of LDS Church in February.

    Secure64 Adds Government Integrator
    Denver, Colorado-based Secure64, which develops secure DNS products used to protect Internet domain name servers from hacking, said Monday that the firm has inked an agreement with IT systems integrator Alvarez & Associates. The deal allows federal government customers to purchase the firm's product through the NASA SEWP (Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement) procurement process, which makes it easier for some departments to buy IT hardware and software.     Albeo Gets Win In Texas
    Boulder, Colorado-based Albeo Technologies, a manufacturer of LED-based lighting fixtures, disclosed today that it has won a customer in Dallas, Texas. According to Albeo, it is retrofitting a parking garage at the Renaissance on Turtle Creek in Dallas, with its solid state lighting fixtures. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed.     Level 3 Expands Customer Relationship
    Broomfield, Colo.-based Level 3 Communications Inc. revealed Monday that it has expanded its relationship with a key customer. The financial impact of the new business was not disclosed.     Salt Lake City-based SageCreek Partners, the business mentoring firm headed by Greg Butterfield, said today that it has signed on IT lifecycle management company XCEND Group, located in Brighton, MI, as a portfolio firm. According to SageCreek, XCEND develops a product which pulls data from Altiris and other IT management platforms into a single dashboard. Butterfield is the former CEO of Altiris.     Omniture Releases New APIs
    Orem, Utah-based Omniture reported Thursday that the firm is looking to help developers looking to connect their applications with its products, by releasing a new set of application programming interfaces. According to the firm, its new APIs include interfaces to make it easier to setup integration and data exchange with Omniture's applications; bi-directional data exchange APIs for importing data; a new reporting API; access to user permissions; and more.
